Customers are currently enjoying the all-time high level of discounts. But the European crisis has now also reached the German car market.

The European crisis has now also reached the German car market. According to the CAR discount index of the University of Duisburg-Essen, a historic high of 121 meters has been reached. We have never seen so many and high discounts and incentives in the German car market in the past, said the institute, headed by Ferdinand Dudenhöffer. Two months ago, the discount level had fallen due to strong demand.

Recession in the German car market

The average customer benefit for the open manufacturer campaigns rose from 11.7 percent to 12.8 percent. The tactical registrations reached 29.5 percent of all new car registrations. "Every manufacturer acts with daily permits in order to achieve quotas," said an expert from the Autogazette.

The institute even speaks of a recession in the German car market. In the second quarter, private customer registrations in Germany reached their worst value in ten years. At the same time, the new vehicle registrations of the companies in the second quarter fell below the values of the previous year's quarter.

Opel with the highest discounts

Opel currently gives the highest discounts to German car manufacturers. The Corsa and Astra models are offered by Internet brokers with discounts of up to 35 percent. This applies to regular, individually specifiable new vehicles, i.e. no daily registrations, according to the institute. But the new Up is also being offered for sale at VW with discounts of up to 29 percent.

The premium area is not spared either. There is a leasing offer for the BMW 1 Series with a customer benefit of 23 percent. There are also tactical approvals for the Audi A8 and Porsche Panamera. (AG)
