The car manufacturer BMW started the new year with an increase in sales. The Munich-based company sold almost 153,000 vehicles worldwide with its brands, an increase of 7.5 percent.
The car manufacturer BMW continues to rush from success to success. As the company announced on Wednesday, global deliveries of the group in January rose by 7.5 percent to 152,879 BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce vehicles compared to the same month last year.
"Although many markets continue to be characterized by volatility, we remain optimistic that this positive trend will continue in 2016 in the year of our 100th anniversary," said Sales Director Ian Robertson.
BMW X1 grows by 60 percent
The core brand BMW was also able to increase sales of almost 134,000 vehicles by 7.5 percent in January. The new BMW X1 made a particular contribution to the growth of the brand. The premium SUV, which has only been on sale since October, achieved 14,308 units, an increase of over 60 percent. The BMW 1 Series came with 12,324 vehicles, an increase of almost 23 percent. The SUVs are still very much in vogue with customers, as shown by the growth in the other X models. The X3 increased by 16.6 percent to 10,777 units, the BMW X6 increased by 24.2 percent to 3,587 units, while the brand's flagship, the 7 Series, grew by over 26. percent to 3,392 vehicles.
The small car brand Mini, which had the best January in the company's history, is also successful. With 18,867 units, the increase was 8.6 percent. While BMW grew in Europe, the US had to accept a minus of four percent. In China, however, the brand grew by 8.4 percent to 43,441 units. The motorcycle division of the Munich-based company grew by 19.6 percent in January to 7,488 vehicles delivered to customers. BMW Motorrad has never been more successful in January. (AG / FM)
