Chevrolet strengthens its small car range in the USA. Sales will start later this year.
Chevrolet also relies on small cars in the USA. The American manufacturer is represented at the Detroit Motor Show with the Aveo RS. The show car, together with the Cruze and Spark, forms the basis for the start of sales in the States. "Our new small cars and the electric vehicle Volt are the cornerstones of the fuel-efficient or fuel-free approach of Chevrolet," said Jim Campbell, General Manager of Chevrolet. "We expect the Spark, Aveo and Cruze trio to take the lead in fuel economy."
Cooperation with utility
The Cruze, which, like the Aveo and Spark, comes from European production, will already be in American showrooms this year, the Aveo will go into production next year and sales of the Spark will begin in early 2012. In Europe, the Cruze already launched this spring the Spark and in mid-2011 the new Aveo. Chevrolet has already announced that the new Aveo will be built in 2011 at the Orion assembly plant in Orion Township, Michigan, for the North American market.
As part of the auto show, Chevrolet announced that the Volt electric car will be sold not only in California, but also in Michigan after a cooperation with a local utility company was concluded. (AG)
