The small car manufacturer Smart presents the Fortwo Brabus at the Geneva Motor Show. The two-seater is powered by a 98 hp three-cylinder.
Smart is presenting a new top version of the Fortwo at the Geneva Motor Show (March 8th to 18th). The Fortwo Brabus was developed together with the tuning company of the same name from Bottrop and is powered by a 72 kW / 98 PS three-cylinder, as announced by the manufacturer in Böblingen.
One liter displacement
The 1.0-liter unit develops a maximum torque of 140 Newton meters and accelerates the two-seater, which weighs just 770 kilograms, to 100 km / h in less than ten seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 155 kilometers per hour (km / h).
Although the three-cylinder of the new Brabus variant has more than 30 percent power compared to the previous model, the average consumption according to Smart is only 5.3 liters per 100 kilometers. The company specifies CO2 emissions as 126 grams per kilometer.
Outwardly, the new top model differs from the series-production Smart, among other things, through special light alloy wheels, wider rear wheel covers, a sports exhaust system and fog lights. It also has a tighter chassis set-up and is 15 millimeters lower. The variant should come to dealers in autumn. Smart will announce prices in the middle of the year.
Luxury in the fortwo
In addition to the normal Brabus, Smart also offers the Brabus Exclusive, which is characterized by a more luxurious equipment package. While the Brabus already has “Monoblock VI” alloy wheels, the rear fender flares and the sports exhaust system and rear apron, the Exclusive also has a front spoiler, side skirts and tinted clear-glass headlights. In the interior there are leather seats with heated seats and a modified three-spoke leather sports steering wheel. (dpa)
