Peugeot spruces up the 607 for the new model year. The Group's flagship will be upgraded, especially in the multimedia zones.
Peugeot equips the "Lion King" for the 2008 model year. The basic version, the 607 Sport, is now equipped as standard with an MP3-compatible RD4 audio system including a JBL sound system with twelve loudspeakers at ten points and 240 watts of power. The standard JBL sound system was previously reserved for the 607 Platinum.
New leather interior in platinum
The Platinum variant has new leather upholstery for this. At the same time, Peugeot is introducing the RT4 navigation and telematics system in the 607, as in other model series. In the 607 Platinum it is part of the standard equipment, while it is available for the 607 Sport at an additional cost of 2,300 euros.
The system has a 30 gigabyte hard drive on which all the map material for Europe from Navteq is stored and bundles four applications: audio and multimedia functions with jukebox for up to 180 hours of music enjoyment, GSM telephone with hands-free system, free emergency call service with automatic Location determination, breakdown assistance and dynamic route guidance with traffic jam diversion.
A 7-inch color screen in 16/9 format with 3D representation guarantees optimal clarity. With the free emergency call service, Peugeot is already meeting the requirements of the European Union planned for 2010, which provide for electronically controlled emergency call systems (eCall) in new vehicles.
Three diesels, one gasoline engine
In Germany, Peugeot offers the 607 in the equipment levels Sport (from 34,150 euros) and Platinum (from 38,400 euros). There is a choice of petrol and three HDi engines with the standard FAP system: a 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine (155 kW / 211 PS) with 6-speed automatic and three HDi FAP engines with 2.0 -, 2.2- and 2.7-liter (V6 / 6-speed automatic) displacement in the power range between 100 kW (136 hp) and 150 kW (204 hp).
