Drivers of German cars are prepared for darker paint colors. In contrast, the importers rely more on bright colors, which women are usually more attracted to.

German drivers don't exactly like things colorful. When it comes to the most popular paint colors, gray and black take first place. Third place is occupied by the color blue, followed by white and red.

Colorful at Skoda and Fiat

The buyers of the Skoda, Fiat and sister brands Renault and Dacia are comparatively colorful. According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), with 31,796 units, most Fiat models sold last year were painted blue. White, black and red follow in second place. 19,899 cars from the Italian manufacturer rolled off the production lines in yellow. Skoda buyers also love it relatively bright. After gray, black and blue, the brand hit list is followed by the color yellow with 15,904 units. Renault and Dacia models are particularly often seen in red. With 44,620 units, the fiery color lands in second place behind blue with 55,880 units.

Purple paint is especially popular with owners of Toyota or Lexus models. Of the 10,890 registered purple cars, 3,263 are from the Japanese sister brands. The owners of a Nissan or Infiniti model with 2,362 purple cars and Audi drivers with at least 1344 purple deliveries are also impressed by purple.

Colorful ladies

Overall, the female world is a little more colorful than the male car buyers. Although the first three favorite colors with gray, black and blue are the same as for men, the proportion of women in many bright colors is significantly higher than in the non-bright colors. For gray, for example, the proportion of female buyers is almost 20 percent, for purple it is around 30 percent and for orange around 38 percent. (mid)
