The Horex brand is supposed to emerge from oblivion. The motorcycle developed under the historical company name is not due to hit the market until the end of next year at the earliest and has a proud price.
Three Munich entrepreneurs want to revive the historic motorcycle brand Horex with a completely newly developed machine. The motorcycle should go into series production at the end of 2011 at the earliest and initially come onto the market in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, announced the Compact Bike, which will in future be known as Horex GmbH, at the presentation of the prototype on Tuesday evening. It has not yet been decided where the motorcycle powered by a patented six-cylinder engine will be built.
Radiance of the brand
So far, the company has been reckoning with a price of around 20,000 euros for the machine. The final price has not yet been determined. In the medium term, a four-digit number is to be sold worldwide. The TT-3D prototype had been advertised on the Internet for several weeks without any indication of the exact author. Clemens Neese founded Compact Bike in 2006 and worked with Frank Fischer and Fritz Romberg for years on the development of the new engine and two-wheeler.
Last year they bought the naming rights to the former Bad Homburg Horex-Fahrzeugbau AG, which had manufactured motorcycles between 1923 and 1956. After the takeover and dissolution of the company by Daimler-Benz in 1960, the naming rights had changed hands several times. "Horex is still a brand with enormous charisma and appeal," said Neese, according to the announcement. (dpa)
