Almost three quarters of the jammed gas pedals and briefly missing brakes have been repaired in the important US market. Significant progress

The North American quality boss Steve St. Angelo spoke on Wednesday at the US headquarters in Torrance, California, despite everything of "significant progress". The problem of the slipping mats has been public since last year, the accelerator pedals and brakes were added at the beginning of the year. The automaker is recalling 8.5 million cars worldwide, most of them in the United States. In Germany, Toyota wanted to have solved the problems by the end of May.

In the USA, 147,500 Prius hybrid vehicles were affected by the misfiring brakes, 2.3 million cars of various series from the sticking gas pedals and as much as 5.4 million from the slipping mats. For comparison: In Germany, Toyota ordered 216,000 cars to go to the workshops because of the accelerator pedals. (dpa)
