Skoda customers can find out on the Internet whether their car has a manipulated EA 189 diesel engine. Among the Czechs, 1.2 million vehicles are affected worldwide.
Following Audi and VW, Skoda customers can now find out on the Internet whether they are driving a manipulated EA 189 diesel engine. At skoda-auto.de you will find an input mask in which the vehicle identification number (VIN) must be entered. If the vehicle is affected, customers should contact the dealer or the manufacturer's info line (phone number: 0800 44 24 24 6), according to a message from the car manufacturer on Monday evening.
Affected vehicles are safe
Skoda points out that the vehicles are safe and can still be used without restrictions. All diesel engines with the EU6 standard are not affected. At the VW subsidiary, around 1.2 million vehicles worldwide are affected by the emissions scandal at the parent company Volkswagen. These are models with diesel engines of the EA 189 type with three or four cylinders with displacements of 1.2, 1.6 and 2.0 liters.
These engines were used in the Fabia II (years of construction 2009 to 2014), Roomster (years of construction 2009 to 2015), Rapid (years of construction 2011 to 2015), Yeti (years of construction 2009 to 2015), Octavia II (years of construction 2009 to 2013) and Superb II (years of construction 2009 to 2015).
