The Hyundai i10 pushed the VW Fox from the throne in small car sales in February. Overall, there were three changes at the top of the individual segments in the second month of the year.

The car bestseller list of the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) recorded three new front-runners in February. With 2,615 new registrations, the Hyundai i10 took first place among the small cars, displacing the previous month's winner VW Fox. In the middle class, the Audi A4 had to surrender its crown to the VW Passat, 4995 units of the Wolfsburg were newly registered and thus more than any other middle class model.

A8 displaces S-Class and 7-series BMW

In the luxury class, the Audi A8 made it to the throne with 401 sales; in the previous month, the S-Class and the BMW 7 Series shared first place. The usual picture emerges in the other classes: the most popular small car in January was the VW Polo with 7141 new registrations, while the compact cars were dominated by the VW Golf with 20,499 units sold. The Mercedes E-Class was the most successful model in the upper middle class; 4005 vehicles rolled out onto the road.

When it comes to off-road vehicles, the VW Tiguan, which had registered 2,205 times, was ahead of the game; the most popular sports car was the Mercedes E-Class Coupé with 518 units. The mini-van bestseller was the Mercedes B-Class with 2,298 units, while the VW Touran, which had been newly registered 4451 times, enjoyed the greatest popularity among large-capacity vans. The most popular utility was the VW Transporter with 2,458 new registrations. The top-selling basic motorhome vehicle was again the Fiat Ducato with 459 units. (mid)
