The new Camaro is an absolute hit in the USA. Therefore the introduction of the legendary Chevrolet in Europe will probably be delayed.
Regardless of all economic turbulence, the Chevrolet Camaro is apparently firmly planned for the European market. The new edition of the legendary sports car, which has been at dealerships in the USA for a few weeks, “will definitely come to Germany,” said Jürgen Keller, Managing Director of Chevrolet Germany in Rüsselsheim. The exact start of sales has not yet been determined. This depends, among other things, on the immense demand in the USA, which the General Motors subsidiary apparently did not expect. According to US media reports, the four-seater is sold out at many retailers.
Three engines
The 4.84 meter long coupé is available on the US market with three engines that bring their power to the road via the rear axle: At the base there is a 3.6 liter gasoline direct injection unit with 227 kW / 304 PS. In addition, Chevrolet offers a 6.2 liter V8, which is available with 299 kW / 400 PS or 318 kW / 426 PS.
All engines are supplied with a six-speed gearbox, but are also available with a six-speed automatic. The prices in the USA are between around 23,000 and 34,000 dollars (around 16,360 and 24,184 euros). (dpa / tmn)
