Mitsubishi strengthens its presence in Europe. Thanks to the increased demand for cooperation models with PSA Peugeot Citroen, the SUVs will soon be manufactured in the Netherlands.
Mitsubishi is reacting to the interest in the SUV models from the cooperation with PSA Peugeot Citroen. Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) is therefore relocating the contract manufacturing of the Citroen C-Crosser SUV models and the Peugeot 4007 from the Japanese plant in Mizushima to the European NedCar plant in Born, the Netherlands.
Exploit sales potential
While the Outlander will start production in the neighboring country as early as August 2008, the first French models, which have been available since the middle of the second quarter of 2007, will not leave the new production facilities until January 2009.
The relocation is intended to optimally exploit production capacities and sales potential - especially for the Lancer and Outlander models, which are in high demand worldwide. Mitsubishi's bestseller in Europe also rolls off the production line at the NedCar plant with the entire Colt family. (AG)
