Sports car maker Porsche has 13,000 vehicles with unauthorized software on the road. So far, 3000 vehicles were assumed.
The diesel scandal over falsified exhaust gas values is also putting the sports and off-road vehicle manufacturer Porsche increasingly in distress. The corresponding US investigations by the environmental authorities EPA and CARB have now affected around 13,000 Cayenne models; previously 3000 had been assumed, a company spokesman said on Tuesday in Stuttgart.
Audi admits installation of cheat software
The VW subsidiary Porsche gets its diesel engines from Audi. Audi was admitted to the use of unauthorized software in models with 3.0 TDI engines on Monday evening. According to Audi, Porsche is about the Cayenne diesel models from 2013, so far only the 2015 model year has been in focus. This increases the number of vehicles that have been criticized considerably.
For Porsche, the diesel car business is more of a sideline - most customers rely on gasoline engines. After all, around a quarter of US business with the Cayenne SUV is in the diesel segment. For these vehicles, the Stuttgart-based carmaker ordered a sales stop at the beginning of November. The spokesman did not want to say anything to the question of how the affected customers should be helped. The internal consultations on this were still ongoing. They are also still in talks with US authorities, with whom they fully cooperate. (dpa)
