Women's Team Wins 24-hour Race At The IAA

The "Team Gelnhausen" prevailed against the four competitors in the 24 hour race at the IAA. After 8955 laps on the Carrera track, Patricia and Michelle could look forward to a Chevrolet Aveo.

Almost 9000 laps for a Chevrolet Aveo. Patricia and Michelle won the 24-hour race “Planet Pole Position” organized by Chevrolet and the Hessian private broadcaster planet radio at the IAA. The two women from "Team Gelnhausen" prevailed against four other teams of two with a total of 8955 laps with their Corvette in mini format on the Carrera track in the Carrera tent in front of Hall 9.

Constant instead of fast

"We practiced on my little brother's Carrera track and tested various strategies," said Patricia about the tactics. "We quickly noticed that a moderate pace is better: You lose a lot of time when the car goes off the track because it's too fast and you first have to get back on the track."

Some teams were faster on the road, but had to use their vehicles on the track more often. The five teams of two drove a total of 39,000 laps before the Chevrolet Aveo could be handed over to the winning team. (AG)
