Renault and Opel will be launching their new, technically identical, light transporter in the summer. The previous partner Nissan, however, traditionally keeps a low profile.
Opel and Renault are sending the Vivaro and Trafic into a new generation. The two light commercial vehicles, which are also suitable for passenger transport, will be launched on the market in summer. While the Trafic is already in its third generation, General Motors has only been involved with the Opel since the second generation, which was introduced in 2002. Nissan is against itIt is still covered whether the Primastar, which is also technically identical, will also be renewed. At the request of the Autogazette, it was said that the current generation would still be sold until the end of the year and that it would then be decided whether a new edition would take place. The hesitant attitude is a tradition at Renault's alliance partner. The Japanese also took their time with the NV 400, which is identical to the Renault Master.
New van design lines
In contrast, Renault and Opel are already showing the first glimpses of design details. "The lines take on the new Renault brand identity and emphasize the large, upright brand logo," said Kihyun Jung, the designer in charge of the new Trafic. "The aim was to create a vehicle that appears both dynamic and independent and yet maintains the robustness and practicality that customers expect."
At Opel, too, the front runs independently. The large radiator grille and the curved sickle graphic take up the characteristic shapes of the Opel car models, the manufacturer announced.
Renault Trafic Europe's number one vans
Despite the identical construction, Renault has a lead over the competition. The first Trafic saw the light of day 34 years ago and has since been sold 1.6 million times.
In addition, the French have held the top position in the van segment in Europe with the Trafic since 1998, which is to be further expanded with the third generation. When the packhorse will premiere has not yet been determined, as has the prices. (AG / TF)
