VW Creates Jobs In Chattanooga

The VW Passat is booming in the USA. This is why another 200 people have joined the previous 2500 employees.

Volkswagen is hiring more people in the US given booming sales. The company announced on Tuesday that 200 new jobs would be created at the Chattanooga plant in the state of Tennessee. In the factory, which only opened last year, around 2,500 people are currently manufacturing the US Passat.

US Passat for the equivalent of 14,700 euros

With the new employees, production should be boosted. The plan is for 35 cars per hour to leave the factory halls instead of 31. The US Passat, specially developed for the North American market, is selling splendidly. Last year sales doubled to 22,800. Overall, VW increased its sales by 26 percent to 324,400 cars, making it one of the fastest growing automakers in the United States.

However, the pricing policy is noticeable. In the USA, VW uses the trick that Japanese and Korean manufacturers also used at the beginning of their engagement in Germany: to sell cars at low prices.
