The Rüsselsheim car manufacturer Opel has further developed its innovative Flex-Fix bicycle rack system. This means that even four bikes can now be transported without any problems.
Cycling is becoming increasingly popular. And more and more families want to take their two-wheelers with them on vacation or weekend trips. For years now, Opel has been the only manufacturer to offer its Flex-Fix bike rack system integrated into the rear of the vehicle. So far, two bikes could be transported with it, now the Rüsselsheim-based Flex-Fix have developed further and created space for even four bikes. The second generation of Flex-Fix is now available for the Astra Sports Tourer and the Zafira Tourer, as the company announced on Wednesday.
The Flex-Fix extension kit costs 227 euros
At the same time, the load-bearing capacity of the innovative bicycle rack system has been increased. While the two wheels to be transported were previously only allowed to weigh 20 kilograms, it is now 30 kilograms. It can also be used to transport heavy e-bikes, which are currently in high demand on the two-wheeler market. The two other bikes, which can be transported using an extension kit available as an accessory in the form of a latching adapter, may weigh up to 20 kilos each. Overall, the system is designed for a weight of 80 kilograms. The new Flex-Fix generation can be locked so that the bikes can stay safely on the car even during a stopover.
At the same time, the new bicycle rack system can be easily tipped so that the tailgate can be opened further. In contrast to a bike rack on the car roof, the driver can drive faster than 120 km / h with the Opel system.
The Flex-Fix system costs 590 euros for the Corsa, Meriva and Astra (five-door) and 650 euros for the Antara. The further developed system costs 690 euros for the Astra Sports Tourer, for the Zafira Tourer it can be ordered for 790 euros, the expansion kit is in the price list at 227.30 euros. (AG / FM)
