Skoda had the best August in the company's history. The market share in Europe exceeded five percent for the first time.

With a record August, Skoda achieved a market share of over five percent in Europe for the first time. With a growth of 14.5 percent, 24,500 new registrations were ultimately 5.1 percent. "Skoda is continuing its growth path. We can see in all markets that our young model range is increasingly appealing to new customer groups," said Skoda Sales Director Werner Eichhorn.

High expectations for the new Skoda Fabia

Skoda sold a total of 73,200 vehicles after 64,000 cars were sold in August 2013 - an increase of 14.3 percent. In Central Europe, the Czech VW subsidiary even achieved a plus of 32.4 percent, in China the increase was 19.1 percent.

The bestseller remains the Octavia, which, however, had to accept a decline of 2.4 percent with 24,800 sales. The Rapid, the latest series, grew by 128.6 percent and was sold 18,900 times. In third place is the Fabia with 11,200 new registrations, a decrease of 15.9 percent.

However, the current generation of the small car is on the home straight, and there are great hopes for the third, completely newly developed generation. "The world premiere of the new Fabia at the Paris Motor Show is the next important step in the Skoda model offensive," continued Eichhorn. (AG / TF)
