Opel has once again increased the output of its new turbo gasoline direct injection engine. The unit celebrates its premiere in the Zafira Tourer.
Opel has donated the most powerful petrol engine to the Zafira Tourer as the first model. With the 1.6 SIDI Turbo (SIDI = Spark Ignition Direct Injection), the compact van now also has an output of 147 kW / 200 PS and 300 Newton meters of torque. "In this way, the Zafira Tourer combines the best of both worlds: the highest level of comfort with extraordinary flexibility on the one hand and a performance that is second to none," says Opel boss Karl-Thomas Neumann.

Combined with the new generation of six-speed manual transmissions, the Zafira Tourer reaches 100 km / h in just 8.9 seconds, and the top speed is 225 km / h. A straight seven liters should flow through the hoses over 100 kilometers, which corresponds to CO2 emissions of 164 grams per kilometer.
The reinforced 1.6 SIDI Turbo - the "weaker" version already has 170 HP - is the fourth new unit for the compact van within ten months and rounds off the range of engines at the top. Compared to the 170 hp SIDI, a different type of piston was used in the top engine and the compression ratio was reduced from 10.5 to 9.5: 1. In addition, there were optimizations in the intake and exhaust tract in order to achieve smoothness and a pleasant sound. The manufacturer from Rüsselsheim will announce prices when the order starts at the beginning of November. (AG)
