In September, Mercedes sold more than 200,000 vehicles in one month for the first time. In total, over 211,000 cars were delivered to customers worldwide. Smart, in particular, made gains.

It's going well for Mercedes. In September, the carmaker posted a new record month with 211,286 vehicles (+12.1 percent). At the same time, the third quarter with over 531,000 units was the strongest in history to date, as the company announced on Friday. Up to September, Mercedes was able to deliver more than 1.5 million vehicles to customers worldwide, which is an increase of 11.7 percent compared to the same period last year.

“In September we achieved a hat trick - the best month with over 200,000 units sold for the first time, the best quarter and the best first nine months for Mercedes-Benz,” said Ola Källenius, Chief Sales Officer.

Europe on a growth path too

The brand with the star was also successful in Europe last month. With 98,877 units, sales increased by 15 percent. In the home market of Germany, Mercedes added 17.1 percent to 27,640 units. Mercedes is still on the road to success in China. In the previous month, 46,443 customers (+ 20.1%) opted for a vehicle with the star. After the first nine months, 344,791 units were sold in China, a growth of almost 30 percent. In the USA, however, growth was significantly lower. 29,500 vehicles mean an increase of 1.7 percent.

The new Mercedes E-Class is particularly popular with customers. Their sales rose by 20.1 percent to 27,955 units. The brand's SUVs are in particularly high demand. In the previous month, 68,197 customers (+26.8 percent) worldwide decided in favor of a Mercedes SUV. After nine months, SUV sales are 520,321 units and an increase of over 42 percent.

The small car brand Smart is also growing. Of the three models, 13,987 vehicles were delivered in the previous month, an increase of 36.5 percent. After nine months, 105,695 units (+ 36.5%) of the Fortwo and Forfour were delivered. At the Paris Motor Show, Smart has just presented all of its three models as electric versions. (AG / FM)
