This year there are again numerous anniversaries of automotive legends. At the Techno Classica in Essen, for example, many special shows will be dedicated to the big birthdays.

The automotive tradition remains important for the automotive industry in the year after the company's 125th birthday. This is also reflected in the many special shows that are being prepared for Techno Classica. Mercedes is dedicated to 60 years of the SL, BMW to the 3 Series and the 40th birthday of the M-GmbH, VW to its "sporty elegance", Porsche 40 years of the 911 Carrera RS. Ford celebrates 60 years of the globe, 50 years of Taunus 12M, 40 years of Granada and 30 years of Sierra. Opel looks back on 150 years of tradition and wants to show some special exhibits in Essen.

208,000 classic cars registered

More than 2500 collector's automobiles are likely to be exhibited in the 20 exhibition halls and in the outdoor area. In addition to the more or less roadworthy automobiles from different epochs, visitors to Techno Classica will also find a variety of spare parts, tools, literature, art and clothing. In addition to old trade magazines and operating manuals, historical posters, posters and signs are offered. Clubs introduce themselves and restoration workshops show their skills in special shows. Almost 1200 exhibitors come together on around 130,000 square meters of exhibition space.

Around 208,000 vehicles in Germany are currently old-timers with a historical license plate and are therefore more than 30 years old, and the trend is rising. Experts assume that between five and six billion euros are generated with vintage cars in Germany each year.

180,000 visitors are expected

The classic fair opens its doors from March 21st to 25th, but the first day is reserved for trade visitors and the press. Messe Essen expects a total of 180,000 visitors. Admission costs 20 euros, reduced 16 euros and for children between 8 and 14 years of age 10 euros. (SP-X)
