Citeecar has launched its car sharing offer in Berlin. The new concept could be very worthwhile for parking lot owners.

With Citeecar the first low-cost provider is launched. "Today we are redefining car sharing," said Bill Jones, CEO of CiteeCar, "our aim is to make car sharing accessible to everyone."

100 Kia Rio for Berlin

One of the 100 Kia Rio models available can be rented for one euro per hour plus consumption costs of 20 cents per kilometer. The car must be rented for at least two hours; the monthly fee for membership, which can be canceled at any time, is five euros. While other providers limit themselves to a "business area" within the capital, Citeecar will place its vehicles throughout Berlin.

The company founded this year is also offering a novelty for vehicles. Parking lot owners can provide their parking space for the rental car and also maintain it as so-called hosts. "You give the cars a 'home', in other words a parking space, and look after it. We give them a generous amount of credit for free use," says Jones.

Citeecar plans to operate in six major cities

By the end of the year, Citeecar wants to station 100 vehicles in Berlin before expanding further nationally and internationally. The next starting shot should be given in Hamburg at the end of March. Overall, Citeecar wants to be present in six major German cities by the end of next year. (AG)
