The comprehensive insurance does not cover a deregistered caravan. If the car is on an official campsite or in winter storage, it is worth taking out another insurance.

Camping insurance is only liable if a deregistered caravan is damaged on a permanent pitch. The comprehensive insurance is then not covered. However, the prerequisite is that the car is on an official campsite or in winter storage. This is pointed out by the Association of Insured in Henstedt-Ulzburg near Hamburg. The insurance cover also applies if the owner is not on site. And the car is also insured for transport that does not roll on its own axle.

Kasko makes sense when registering

Camping insurance not only pays for damage to the caravan itself - for example due to hail or vandalism - but also for damage to tents, entertainment electronics or the moving inventory. Up to a certain age, the new value is usually reimbursed, explains the insured party. Most of the time, however, the contracts contained a deductible clause.

If the caravan is registered again and rolls on its own wheels, motor vehicle liability and comprehensive insurance make sense. The caravan and everything that is permanently connected to it can be insured with comprehensive insurance. Motor vehicle liability regulates damage to others. (dpa / tmn)
