The general inspection for cars is being reformed. In addition to the creation of a uniform system, the on-board electronics should be checked more efficiently.
The Federal Council has approved a far-reaching reform of the general vehicle inspection. Accordingly, among other things, a fee surcharge of 20 percent is due if the car is brought more than two months late for the mandatory inspection. In return, however, the sticker should be valid from the day of the examination and will no longer be backdated to the original date.
Build comprehensive statistics
A uniform system for recording defects is planned for all testing organizations such as TÜV. More comprehensive statistics should also be built from the data. In view of the further development of the technology, the on-board electronics should also be tested more efficiently.
The new regulations should come into force on July 1st. On Friday, the Federal Council only approved the federal government's draft ordinance with several changes. Originally the regulation was supposed to come into force on April 1st. (dpa)
