Holidaymakers should always have the proper return of a rental car confirmed in writing. Katrin Müllenbach-Schlimme from the ADAC in Munich said the receipt issued by the landlord should include the date and time and the condition in which the car was returned. «That is safest for the tenant. At acceptance stations without staff, where only the car key has to be thrown in, tenants should inquire how they should behave when they pick up the vehicle.
