The resemblance is amazing. The SUV CEO of China Automobile cannot deny its resemblance to the BMW X5. Now the SUV is coming onto the German market.

China Automobile starts selling the CEO and UFO SUV models in Germany. Both Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV) are now coming to around 80 dealers, the importer announced in Munich. According to managing director Karl Schlössl, five more models are to follow this year.

Trademark infringements

After his introduction, the CEO caused a sensation and discussions about trademark violations because of the similarity to the first generation of the BMW X5. The five-seater, which is technically derived from an earlier Mitsubishi Pajero, is offered by the Chinese at prices from 25,900 euros with selectable all-wheel drive and a 2.4-liter gasoline engine. It has an output of 92 kW / 125 PS and consumes an average of 11.4 liters of fuel (CO2 emissions: 232 grams per kilometer). Schössl has also announced a petrol engine with 121 kW / 165 PS and a V6 diesel with 143 kW / 195 PS and a particle filter for the autumn.

The importer's second series is the 3.85 meter long UFO, which is vaguely reminiscent of the first generation of the Toyota RAV-4. It starts at prices from 15,990 euros with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine that develops 95 kW / 129 hp and consumes 7.5 liters (CO2 emissions: 220 g / km). There is also a 2.4-liter petrol engine with 100 kW / 136 PS that requires 8.0 liters (CO2 emissions: 229 g / km). For both variants there should also be all-wheel drive in summer. Schlössl is also offering a five-door hatchback and a convertible at the same basic price.

After the summer holidays, the Chinese want to bring the Toyota Land Cruiser-inspired GX6 onto the market as the third off-road vehicle. It will cost around 25,000 euros, is 4.97 meters long and will initially have the same engine as the CEO. Later it will also be delivered with a diesel. In addition, the company is planning a transporter in the format of the Fiat Ducato with a long wheelbase, high roof and a 100 kW / 136 hp diesel for the fall, which will cost less than 20,000 euros gross. A pick-up is also in preparation.

For the Paris Motor Show (October 4th to 19th), Managing Director Schlössl announced three more innovations: For example, a four-meter-long small car with four seats and a front engine is to be unveiled, the price of which is less than 7,000 euros. And in the upper middle class there should be a sedan and a station wagon in the format of the Brilliance BS6, the prices of which start at around 17,000 euros. (dpa / tmn)
