Young people in particular - and the young at heart - love the Suzuki Jimny. As a convertible and with the appropriate sound system, the off-road vehicle is the ideal party vehicle.

should say again that the drive to work is a boring and bland affair - regardless of the inevitable traffic jams. And the same faces in the aerodynamically styled vehicles, which look confusingly similar due to their design, don't have to be annoying either. If you sit in the right vehicle yourself. Like in Suzuki's Jimny SUV, even better in the open version of this off-roader. It invites you to party, not just in summer.
Matching outfit to choose from
Those responsible at Suzuki have also recognized this and have now launched three special models of the robust off-roader at once. The two versions "Daktari" and "Camouflage" stand out from the broad, mostly silver-colored mass by their exterior. "Daktari" comes in a zebra look, while "Camouflage" conjures up a military look on sheet metal. Both versions cost 17,700 euros each. Incidentally, rarity is guaranteed ex works. Only 75 models were ever launched for Germany.
Limited edition
After all, Suzuki Germany has ten times the amount of the 2007 edition of the “Rock am Ring” special edition we run. This is based on the "Club" equipment variant of the Jimny Cabrio and can be easily recognized from the outside by the bright logos on the side and on the rear. In addition, the front protection bars, running boards and the cover for the spare wheel are painted in the same color as the car. And in our case that was the newly available “Azure Gray Pearl Metallic”. Inside the all-black-clad Jimny, a leather steering wheel and partial leather seats as well as air conditioning are also included for a price of 16,900 euros (Suzuki promises a price advantage of 1000 euros here). The same goes for the fog lights and the exhaust cover. The leather interior has a small disadvantage. When the sun hits it unhinderedthe cover gets hot as hell. Attention!
The logo also appears in the interior, by the way, on the center armrest and the floor mats - you should be able to see where you are going. True to the motto "attract attention at any price".
Bombastic sound
The most important additional element in the little “Rock am Ring” all-wheel drive, however, is the audio system. The CD radio can fully develop its bombastic sound via four loudspeakers at the front and rear, additional tweeters and a subwoofer mounted under the driver's seat. This is also sorely needed so that the driver can even hear his favorite music with the top down and at a slightly higher speed. It has to be level 30 on the volume control. Of course, the environment is inevitably also covered with sound. Those who fear hearing damage with such values should be reminded of two things. First: this is an open-topped vehicle. And second: at full throttle at 140 km / h, the background noise of the vehicle already reaches a value of over 100 decibels. Speaking of top speed:ABS is standard, but there are only two airbags. Jimny is only for young people - and the young at heart.
Standard motorization
The special Jimny "Rock am Ring" - like the other two special Suzuki - is technically based on the convertible with the 1.3-liter gasoline engine with 63 kW / 86 PS under the hood. In any case, the robust sound of the unit can only really be experienced in this way. The four-valve engine has to be satisfied with only 110 Newton meters of maximum torque, which is available at 4100 revolutions. But the power is completely sufficient for the lightweight at around 1100 kilograms. If you switch diligently, you can make rapid progress in Jimny. The angular off-roader needs 14.1 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h. The average consumption is a solid 7.3 liters of Super per 100 kilometers, which corresponds to CO2 emissions of 174 grams.
Real off-roader
But these values are not really of interest in such a vehicle. The Jimny Cabrio, built in Spain, only shows its true strengths in the field. After all, this off-road vehicle is still an off-roader made of real shot and grain. The short wheelbase of the only 3.60 meter long vehicle, the short overhangs, the large ground clearance and the clarity are not just purely optical gimmicks. Because the Jimny also has the appropriate technology for the rough - with appealing articulation, all-wheel drive that can be switched on while driving, and terrain reduction that can be activated with a tap of the finger.
A good mood is guaranteed in every case and in every situation, but only for two. The rear row of seats should not be expected of your passengers and it is best to convert them to additional storage space. The storage space increases from 113 to 286 liters. Everything in the cockpit is wonderfully easy to use, and is clearly arranged. A little practice only requires folding and unpacking the somewhat fiddly top. Once you've got the hang of it, nothing stands in the way of having fun. Radio on or CD pushed in, the regulator turned up, and the party is off at Jimny. And that until at least 2010. Only then should a successor be ready for the long-running hit introduced in 1998.
