His confidante Greg Kelly is already free. But Renault boss Carlos Ghosn has to remain in jail in Japan.
A Japanese court has approved a further extension of pre-trial detention for the former head of the board of directors of Renault partner Nissan.
As the District Court in Tokyo announced on Monday, the prosecution's request was granted to interrogate the car manager, who has been in custody for more than a month, by January 11th.
No date for a trial yet
There is still no date for a trial against Carlos Ghosn. Ghosn, who is still head of the French car maker Renault, and his former right-hand man Greg Kelly were arrested on November 19 in the Japanese capital on suspicion of violating stock market requirements.
Ghosn's confidante Kelly was recently released from custody on bail. Ghosn, on the other hand, remains in custody for the time being after the prosecution made further allegations against the car manager. Accordingly, he is also said to have transferred private investment losses to his former employer, whom he had once saved from near bankruptcy. (dpa)
