According to a media report, VDA boss Matthias Wissmann is to be replaced after the IAA. There could be no question of that, said a Daimler spokesman.
The car company Daimler has contradicted a report on the allegedly planned replacement of Matthias Wissmann as head of the Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). "There can be no question of replacing Matthias Wissmann," said Daimler spokesman Jörg Howe on Thursday.
Disagreements between Zetsche and Wissmann?
The editorial network Germany had reported that the three big car manufacturers Daimler, BMW and Volkswagen wanted to see another president at the top of the VDA after the International Motor Show in Frankfurt in September. The coordinator of the search for a Wissmann successor is Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche.
The former CDU Minister Wissmann has been VDA President since 2007. The entire industry has come under considerable pressure from the diesel emissions scandal. Among other things, there were disagreements between Wissmann and Zetsche. The report also said that the three car manufacturers wanted to dispute the further debate on internal combustion engines and possible driving bans with a personnel and content repositioning at the VDA.
