Gasoline prices have hit a new high. Drivers respond to this with a fuel-saving driving style, and switching to buses and trains is also being considered.
German drivers are suffering from rising gasoline prices. After the gasoline price hit a new high in March, many consumers are forced to rethink. As shown in a Forsa survey published on Tuesday on behalf of the magazine “Stern”, two thirds of those questioned pay attention to the most fuel-efficient driving style. Four out of ten respondents also stated that they currently leave their car behind more often.
Demand for a reduction in the mineral oil tax
28 percent are switching to bicycles or using buses and trains more often than before (15 percent). Almost one in five (18 percent) said, according to the survey, that they would limit themselves in other areas in order to be able to pay for fuel. Almost every third driver is even considering switching to a car with low fuel consumption.
A large majority of respondents (70 percent) are in favor of lowering the mineral oil tax. According to most citizens, however, the oil companies (72 percent) are responsible for the highest fuel prices of all time. Around one in five (23 percent) sees the international economic situation as the cause. 7 percent are of the opinion that gas station tenants would turn the price screw. (AG / dpa)
