The next winter is sure to come. The new tires should be installed as early as October in order not only to avoid delivery bottlenecks.
If you want to get new winter tires, you should take action now, if possible. In recent years, according to the initiative Pro Winterreifen in Bonn, there have been delivery bottlenecks at the onset of winter at the manufacturers and therefore waiting times for drivers. In particular, tires in popular sizes were often out of stock. In any case, it is advisable to put on winter tires as early as October and thereby increase safety, especially when braking and cornering.
Correct size in the vehicle registration document
If you don't know which tire sizes are the right ones for your car, you can look in the vehicle registration document, according to TÜV Süd in Munich. For models that have been registered since October 2005, however, usually only one type of tire is noted in field 15 of the certificate. Other suitable sizes can often be found by looking at the operating instructions for the car or on the inside of the tank cap.
