The run on the winter sports areas begins next weekend. Away from the winter sports routes, traffic will flow smoothly.
The winter sports season begins on the weekend from January 31st to February 2nd. The winter holidays begin in four federal states. In view of the current weather conditions, more time should be planned for the journey to and from the German low mountain ranges and the Alps. On the other hand, traffic should run quite smoothly away from the winter sports areas. The ADAC expects traffic jams and slow-moving traffic on the following routes:
• A 1 Hamburg - Bremen - Cologne
• A 2 Hanover - Braunschweig - Berlin
• A 3 Cologne - Nuremberg - Passau
• A 4 Kirchheimer Dreieck - Erfurt - Chemnitz
• A 5 Hattenbacher Dreieck - Karlsruhe - Basel
• A 7 Hamburg - Würzburg - Füssen / Reutte
• A 8 Karlsruhe - Munich - Salzburg
• A 9 Munich - Berlin
• A 93 Kufstein - Inntaldreieck
• A 95 / B 2 Munich - Garmisch-Partenkirchen
• A 99 Munich bypass
The traffic club also expects a high volume of traffic in neighboring countries. In Austria, the West, Tauern, Inntal and Brenner autobahns will be just as busy as the Fernpass route and the most important federal highways in Vorarlberg, Tyrol and the Salzburg region.
In Italy there may be delays on the Brenner motorway and the roads to Val Pusteria, Val Gardena and Gadertal as well as in the Vinschgau, in Switzerland this applies to the A 2 Gotthard route, the A 1 St. Gallen - Zurich - Bern, the Gotthard route and the direct access roads to the ski areas.
In addition, the Munich Security Conference will take place at the “Bayerischer Hof” conference hotel on the weekend in Munich. Numerous streets will be closed, so that the journey into the city center should be made by public transport.
