Holiday traffic on the motorways continues unabated. In the direction of the Alps in particular, the ADAC expects heavy travel traffic, which can develop into traffic jams.
On the German motorways in the direction of the Alps, it is expected to be full again next weekend (February 18-20). The ADAC expects that many vacationers and day-trippers will head for the ski areas. Travelers can be expected mainly from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony and the Netherlands, where the winter holidays begin. According to the automobile club, the risk of traffic jams is particularly high on the following routes:
- A 3 Frankfurt - Würzburg - Nuremberg
- A 4 Kirchheimer Dreieck - Erfurt - Dresden
- A 5 Frankfurt - Karlsruhe - Basel
- A 7 Würzburg - Ulm - Füssen
- A 8 Stuttgart - Munich - Salzburg
- A 9 Berlin - Nuremberg - Munich
- A 10 motorway ring Berlin
- A 72 Chemnitz - Hof
- A 93 Inntaldreieck - Kufstein
- A 95 / B 2 Munich - Garmisch-Partenkirchen
- A 99 bypass Munich

The winter travel wave is also noticeable on the highways in neighboring countries. In Austria in particular, disabilities have to be taken into account, as holidays begin or end there in some parts of the country. But also in Italy and Switzerland, the motorways and the direct access roads to and from the winter sports areas are likely to be well filled. (AG)
Rush of visitors in Garmisch-Partenkirchen
At the end of the Alpine Ski World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which will end on Sunday (February 20), the ADAC is expecting another rush of visitors from Germany and abroad. As a result, long traffic jams on the already heavily loaded connection Munich - Garmisch-Partenkirchen (A 95 / B 2) are foreseeable.
The wave of winter travel will also make itself felt on the highways in neighboring countries. The Auto Club Europa (ACE) assumes this. In Austria, the Tauern motorway (A10) and the Inntal motorway (A12) as well as the Fernpass (B179) are affected. In Switzerland, drivers must expect disabilities from roadworks on the A1 and A2.
