While many automakers are stumbling, Hyundai currently only knows one direction. The South Koreans are defying the sales crisis and have raised their targets.

The South Korean automaker Hyundai sees itself on a record course despite the global sales crisis. After almost 3.2 million vehicles sold in the first three quarters, sales could exceed expectations of 4.29 million for the full year and come to 4.38 million units, the South Korean industry leader forecast on Thursday.

Hyundai is growing strongly in China

Especially in China, Hyundai is currently growing strongly, said a company spokeswoman in Seoul. CFO Lee Won Hee has corrected the forecast for sales in the neighboring country from 790,000 for the whole year to 820,000 to 830,000 vehicles. But the South Koreans also reported a significant increase in sales in the first nine months of this year in the established markets such as the USA and Europe.

Last year, Hyundai exceeded the four million mark for the first time with just under 4.06 million vehicles sold. Together with its sister company Kia Motors, Hyundai ranks fifth among the largest car manufacturers. (dpa)
