From this year the new color yellow will apply to the badges for the main inspection. If you still have a green sticker on your license plate, you should register your vehicle for an inspection as soon as possible.
The year 2013 brings a multitude of innovations for motorists. Motorists who are still on the road with a green inspection sticker with the number 12 on the license plate should register their vehicle for the general inspection as soon as possible. TÜV Süd is pointing this out in Munich this Wednesday.
A fine is payable
Drivers should bear in mind that they will have to pay a fine if the HU sticker has expired by more than two months. "So if you are still on the road with a green sticker with the number 12 on the license plate of your car, trailer or motorcycle, you should register for the HU as soon as possible," advises TÜV.
The owner can tell when the vehicle needs to be examined by the number on the sticker pointing upwards. At number 12 it is December 2012. Anyone with such a badge must expect a fine of 15 euros from March. If you have the HU carried out four months late, you have to pay 40 euros and after eight months the whole thing costs 75 euros and two points are also due in the traffic offender register in Flensburg.

TÜV Süd also points out that backdating with the HU amendment was no longer applicable last year. This means that since then the date for the next HU has been based on the date of the HU actually carried out. The TÜV experts say that anyone who thinks that this is an invitation to waste time is wrong. “After all, if you exceed the limit for more than two months, you have to go to the extended test - and pay a 20 percent surcharge. The reason is the in-depth examination, for which there is then a new badge for a full two years. "(AG)
