Well-equipped navigation devices at an affordable price are no longer a rarity. Navigon has now launched two new models on the occasion of the IFA in Berlin.
Navigon brings two new navigation systems for beginners to the market. The Navigon 1200 is aimed at price-conscious first-time buyers who still have certain demands on the technology, the manufacturer announced at the IFA technology fair in Berlin. The same applies to the new Navigon 2200, which is more design-oriented with its chrome frame and glossy black housing.
With lane assistant
Although the devices are at the lower end of the scale with prices starting at 129 or 149 euros, Navigon has not skimmed down when it comes to equipment: "We want to offer a good price-performance ratio even in the entry-level segment," said spokesman Michael Hoffmann. Both devices have a lane assistant, a realistic display of confusing junctions or motorway exits as well as a speed and radar warning on board. The free traffic jam info TMC is also integrated in the 2200 series. The map material covers Germany, Austria and Switzerland or - for a surcharge - all of Europe.
Trend towards individual navigation systems
If this technical equipment is not enough, the navigation software will soon be able to be upgraded via the Navigon portal, according to Hoffmann. The company is planning to offer additional features for a fee-based download there - for example, it would be conceivable to install the curve warning system, which was also presented at the IFA, on a 1200 or 2200 series at a later date.
