Bicycle racks or roof boxes cost fuel due to the increased air resistance - on average around one liter per 100 kilometers. They should therefore be removed immediately after use. The trunk must also urgently be freed of holiday ballast, because every kilo of excess weight is at the expense of consumption.
Check tire pressure and oil level
In addition, a visit to the car wash is due after returning from vacation. The front of the vehicle and the windshield are often stuck together with insect remains. However, they can be easily removed by using a special cleaner.
The car is then subjected to a technical check. The tire pressure should be checked and, if necessary, reduced again after adjusting to full load.
