Daimler has denied a magazine report about a change in management. According to a “Focus” report, Daimler board member Wolfgang Bernhard is to become the new strong man at the Stuttgart car manufacturer. The manager should first replace group leader Dieter Zetsche as head of the Mercedes-Benz Cars car division and could then become the new CEO, the magazine reported, citing internal group planning.

"The report by Focus magazine is completely fictitious and has no basis. Dieter Zetsche's contract as Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars was extended to the end of 2013 at the beginning of this year and will therefore be fulfilled," said company spokesman Jörg Howe.
Bernhard was only promoted to the Daimler Board of Management at the beginning of the year and is responsible for production and purchasing in the passenger car division.
