In future, it will be easier for drivers of a Lexus LS 460 to park. The Japanese car maker offers a sensor-controlled parking assistant for this purpose.
The Japanese car maker Lexus makes parking easier for its customers. At the beginning of next year, the parking space in the Lexus LS 460 will be measured using ultrasound while driving past. If desired, the parking assistant takes over the entire parking process for the driver.
The steering angle is calculated
First of all, an ultrasonic sensor in the front bumper detects the size of the parking space before it is transmitted by a camera in the trunk lid to a color monitor in the dashboard after the vehicle has been put into reverse.
The parking assistant then calculates the required steering angle and automatically takes over the steering work. The driver controls the parking process with the help of the camera image and the exterior mirrors and stops the car when the parking position is reached. Toyota has been offering a similar parking system in the Toyota Prius since March of this year. In the LS 460, Lexus is now offering the parking assistant for the first time with an automatic detection and measurement of the parking space. The new Lexus LS 460 celebrates its market launch in Germany on January 18th. The Lexus has been on the North American market since October 20th.
