From the beginning of April, new regulations for child seats will apply across Europe. Old and new children's seats can be distinguished by the test standard.
From April 8, 2008, only child seats that comply with the test standard ECE-R 44/03 or ECE-R 44/04 may be used throughout Europe. This is indicated by the accident research of insurers (UDV) in the General Association of the German Insurance Industry (GDV). The reference to the test standard can be found on a small white or orange label that is attached to each child seat. The check number on it, which is below the letter "E" circled in black, must begin with "03" or "04". Older child seats that only have an approval according to ECE-R 44/01 or 02 are obsolete and may no longer be used.

That is why the UDV has developed the brochure “Safeguarding children in the car - Advice - Tips - ISOFIX” and has now presented a new edition that is very up to date. Almost every conceivable question on the subject of «protecting children in the car» is explained on 42 pages. There is information on the statutory security obligation, on choosing and buying the right child seat, on securing in mobile homes, buses or taxis, on going on vacation or on comfort aspects or special child seat accessories.
