Drivers should be careful when exchanging their driver's license for the credit card format. Separate applications must be made so that no discounts are lost.
When exchanging their old driver's license for a new one in credit card format, drivers have to be careful: if they do not apply to the competent authority, they are no longer allowed to drive trucks with a gross vehicle weight of over 3.5 tonnes, for example. The magazine “Auto Bild” (issue 10/2007) in Hamburg points this out. You can then only couple trailers up to a certain weight.
Addendum not possible
The old class 3 driver's license, on the other hand, authorized the driver to drive trucks with a gross vehicle weight of up to 7.5 tons. If the driver's license was issued before April 1, 1980, it is even valid for 125 cubic motorcycles. This right is also lost in the event of a thoughtless exchange for the new EU driving license. The request to keep the previous authorizations does not cost anything. However, if you haven't thought about it, you can't have it printed on the plastic card document afterwards. (dpa)
