The ADAC tested eight windshield wipers. Even if there was no failure, the tests on some wipers were quite different.
After testing the windscreen wipers, the ADAC demanded an age label on the packaging. Similar to car tires, the production date of windshield wipers should also be visible to the consumer. "Because rubber changes with increasing age, some test products must have been on the shelf for a long time," said the ADAC testers.
Bosch celebrates a double victory
In the tests with eight bracket and bar wipers, the wiping quality for some products was noticeably different, as the club writes. For one and the same model there were grades between “very good” and “sufficient”. The ADAC justified the different grades with the different ages of the wipers.
Of the eight objects tested, three products received an overall rating of “good”, and no wiper failed. With the BoschTwin Spoiler was able to achieve a place on the podium in comparison with the more expensive bar wiper in second place. The Bosch AeroTwin Multi secured the victory, the most expensive wiper came third. At 37 euros, the VisioFlex from SWF costs ten euros more than the test winner, which also scored “good” in the cold chamber down to minus ten degrees in contrast to the competition.
150,000 wiping cycles between plus 20 and minus ten degrees
The wipers were initially tested when they were new, then after 150,000 wiping cycles and a UV temperature simulation at plus 20 degrees and minus ten degrees, as the ADAC announced. These tests accounted for 90 percent of the verdict. The processing, the risk of injury during assembly and the understandability of the instructions for use were rated at ten percent. (AG)
