Mercedes has revised the E-Class. In addition to a large number of new assistance systems and two different basic variants, a four-cylinder is also used in the business class.

For Mercedes, the "E" primarily symbolizes success. Now that the success story of the E-Class can no longer celebrate its sole success due to the competition from Bavaria, the revised E-Class should now deliver new records. The business limousine, which will be available from April 13th, is intended to bring commercial customers to the brand or to collect them again.

On the visual side, the C-Class's recipe for success has now been applied to the higher segment. You can choose between the equipment variants Elegance and Advantgarde, which come with different and also redesigned fronts. Elegance drivers have the star on the bonnet, with the Advantgarde version the star is emblazoned in the middle of the radiator grille.
In addition, the headlights have been renewed and LED daytime running lights are now standard. There were also subtle changes to the bonnet and bumpers, as were the bumpers and taillights on the angular rear end.

But the optical retouches are only the icing on the face of the facelift, apart from the choice between Elegance and Advantgarde. Because the actual innovations are initially invisible and some innovations should ideally remain invisible in everyday life.
Eleven new or revised safety assistants have found their way into the E-Class, which Mercedes calls "Intelligent Drive". Intelligent driving does not refer to the driver himself, because the helpers are acting more and more autonomously. The PreSafe system can now not only initiate braking up to a speed of 50 km / h, but also carries out the process completely independently, without the driver having to intervene. The 4.88-meter-long limousine stopped in front of a test dummy and in real life would have protected people from injuries or even prevented possible death. A stereo camera placed behind the inside mirror provides the information.

The collision and drowsiness warning, steering and lane keeping assistant or the permanent high beam, which does not dazzle oncoming traffic, as well as the parking assistant and the traffic sign assistant, which warns the driver not to go down in history as wrong-way drivers, have also been revised. Of course, not every assistant is on board as standard, but has to be bought for a lot of money. If all the helpers are on board, the driver and front passenger can feel very, very safe.
The usual classy interior enhances the feeling of security, as every trip can be approached and carried out in a relaxed manner. The seats are as comfortable as they are contoured, the instruments are easy to read, and engine noises are barely audible. Even after a long journey, you don't really want to get out because the journey can be enjoyed, whether in the sedan or the two centimeter longer T-model.

The enjoyment already takes place with the entry-level variant, the change also takes place invisibly, but still attracts attention. Because a four-cylinder is being used for the first time in the E-Class. In addition to the E 200 with 135 kW / 184 hp, the 155 kW / 211 hp E 250 is also supported by just four pots.
To anticipate: these variants are sufficient even for frequent drivers. Thanks to a torque of 350 Newton meters, which is already available at 1200 rpm and offers maximum power up to 4000 rpm, the small direct injection units are also powerfully equipped and bring the E-Class, which weighs around 2.3 tons, to 100 km / h in 7.4 seconds. H. Up to 243 km / h, the business class keeps the left lane occupied before the indicator has to be activated. Consumption is given between 5.8 and 6.1 liters.

Those who want it a little more lively can take the E 400. The 245 kW / 333 hp six-cylinder is equipped for the first time as a bi-turbo drive and, thanks to 480 Newton meters, reaches 100 km / h after 5.4 seconds and should be 7.9 liters content. But speed doesn't have to be the main focus of the E-Class. Limo as well as T-Modell can also use winding country roads. For this, Mercedes has four different chassis on offer, which can also be set in different modes. As I said, getting out is difficult.
However, many will find it difficult to get on board. Prices for the E-Class start at 40,430 euros, with the E400 starting at 56,019 euros. There are also long surcharges. Anyone who can afford the E-Class celebrates their first personal success with the purchase. The vehicle then delivers the next success story.
