Three new natural gas vehicles with turbo drive will come onto the market in the spring of next year. They should be far more dynamic than the previous models.
The natural gas drive engages the turbo. Three car models with supercharged gas engines have been announced for spring 2009. The turbo is supposed to make the inexpensive to refuel but so far somewhat clumsy natural gas engines more dynamic.
9.7 seconds to 100 km / h
The VW Passat 1.4 TSI EcoFuel will be available at dealerships during the first quarter. The 110 kW / 150 PS middle class should complete the sprint from zero to 100 km / h in 9.7 seconds, the top speed is specified as 210 km / h. The natural gas tank enables a range of 480 kilometers, the additional petrol tank lasts for another 460 kilometers.
The Opel Zafira 1.6 CNG ecoFLEXTurbo has also been announced for spring. The van also develops 110 kW / 150 PS. Acceleration values are not yet known, the maximum speed should be around 200 km / h. About 370 kilometers can be covered with natural gas, plus a reserve of 14 liters of petrol.
In March 2009, Fiat is ringing in the natural gas turbo era for its vans. In the Ducato, the 3.0-liter turbo engine delivers 100 kW / 136 hp in natural gas mode. The top speed is 153 km / h, the range with natural gas should be around 400 kilometers. (mid)
