With interior dimensions that are remarkable for a small car, Nissan has now presented the first model of the revived Datsun brand in India. The small car “Go” does not only want to convince with a low price.
Nissan brings the Datsun brand back to life. The small car Goin India has now celebrated its premiere as the first model of the new low-cost subsidiary. The spartan offshoot of the Nissan Micra will initially hit the market in India in 2014. Other boom regions followed later with Russia, Indonesia and South Africa.
Comfortable interior
The "Go" is 3.78 meters long, 1.64 meters wide and 1.48 meters, with typical small car dimensions. The wheelbase of 2.45 meters, on the other hand, appears comparatively comfortable, which suggests a spacious interior. A 1.2-liter petrol engine with a five-speed gearbox works under the hood. The “Mobile Docking Station”, which is supposed to connect the car with the indispensable smartphones, shows that spartan is not synonymous with being out of fashion.
With a price of around 5,100 euros, the Datsun is about half as expensive as the current Nissan Micra. The design of the vehicle comes from Nissan's Japanese design center. Technically, it was brought to maturity in India. An introduction in Western Europe is not planned for the time being. (AG / SP-X)
