The falling oil price is also causing the prices at the pumps to tumble. The difference between gasoline and diesel remains unusually high.

The prices for gasoline and diesel have fallen again compared to the previous week. Since the price of Brent crude oil fell by two dollars per barrel within a week, the prices at the petrol station also fell, as the ADAC announced.

Super E 10 gives way by 2.5 cents

The liter Super E10 cost 2.5 cents less than the previous week at an average price of 1.461 euros. The liter of diesel was down by one cent and currently costs an average of EUR 1.190.

At 27.1 cents, the difference between the two fuels remains unusually high, even if it has already decreased. The traffic club expects that both types of fuel will converge again after the summer holidays.

Gasoline in greater demand during the summer

Petrol is in greater demand during the summer months due to travel, but also due to the higher demand in the USA and China - neither of which are "diesel countries" - and the price increases as a result.

In autumn and winter, diesel fuel will become more expensive again, as the demand for heating oil will then rise and the price for diesel will rise again. The ADAC therefore advises to continue comparing prices even in cheaper phases and to take advantage of a favorable opportunity even if the tank is not empty. (AG)
