The downward trend in fuel prices after the morning high is often followed by a lunch break. According to the ADAC, it is best to only refuel in the evening.
Drivers should limit their fueling habits to the early evening. According to a current study by ADAC at around 14,000 filling stations, the daily downward trend in fuel prices was stopped again after the morning high around noon.
Increase between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m
The prices rose in November between 12 noon and 1 p.m. on average for all petrol stations by 2.4 cents for Super E10 and 2.3 cents for diesel, as announced by the traffic club. Only around 3 p.m. did prices return to their starting level. The ADAC had already noticed this trend in July 2015.
The best time to refuel is between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Then the prices have reached their lowest level across the board before they start to pick up again. However, the ADAC points out that some providers keep the low prices until 11 p.m.
It gets really expensive at night. Drivers who introduced the fuel nozzle in the first few hours of the day in November had to spend around 10.9 cents more for gasoline and 10.3 cents more for diesel fuel at the cash register compared to the cheapest hour. (AG)
