Opel extends the engine range for the Astra. After the station wagon, the five-door model now also has a powerful bi-turbo diesel.

The unit had already been installed in the station wagon, now Opel is following suit with the five-door Astra. The compact gets the 118 kW / 160 PS strong bi-turbo diesel.

“The new Astra is one of the lightest cars in its class. Combined with the new 1.6-liter BiTurbo and its performance, smoothness and economy, it is now simply irresistible, "says Opel boss Karl-Thomas Neumann.

Opel Astra 1.6 BiTurbo CDTI in 8.6 seconds to 100 km / h

With the new 1.6 BiTurbo CDTI, the sprint is completed within 8.6 seconds and the top speed is reached at 220 kilometers per hour. The new lightweight architecture enables the bi-turbo variant to weigh around 200 kilos less than the comparable predecessor model.

Thanks to the 350 Newton meters, which are already reached after 1500 revolutions, the Astra should be satisfied with between 4.1 and 4.2 liters per 100 kilometers according to the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). The new Astra is equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, which, thanks to its good coordination with the chassis and engine, ensures the necessary smoothness.

At least 27,310 euros for the Opel Astra 1.6 BiTurbo CDTI

Of course, the OnStar telematics system is also on board for the new variant, which up to 70 percent of buyers choose, depending on the model. The full LED matrix light IntelliLux system can also be ordered. Before the optional assistants are ordered, at least 27,310 euros must be invested for the Astra five-door 1.6 BiTurbo CDTI.
