BMW throttles the consumption of the 320d. Nevertheless, you don't have to cut back on your athletic performance.
BMW is curbing the thirst of the 3 Series and has announced a special economy version of the sedan for the coming spring. It should only consume 4.1 liters and thus come to CO2 emissions of 109 g / km. This will make the 320d Efficient Dynamics Edition the most economical and low-emission car in the BWM program, the manufacturer announced in Munich.
Savings of 0.7 liters
The increase in consumption of 0.7 liters was achieved primarily through an improvement in the two-liter four-cylinder engine. Its output has also been reduced from 130 kW / 177 PS to 120 kW / 163 PS. There is also a longer axle ratio as well as familiar measures from the Efficient Dynamics package. This includes an automatic start-stop system and intelligent control of the ancillary units. Nevertheless, the 320d accelerates to 100 km / h in 8.2 seconds and reaches a maximum of 225 km / h.
The economy version will have its world premiere at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt / Main from September 17th to 27th. It will be available at dealerships in early 2010. BMW has not yet given any specific information on prices. But you want to forego a surcharge and orientate yourself on the price of the normal 320d, says BMW spokesman Dirk Arnold. This is currently 33,800 euros. (dpa / tmn)
