Mitsubishi will be launching a new sports sedan in the spring of next year. The new model will be presented at the Detroit motor show.
The Japanese automaker Mitsubishi will present a new sports sedan at the Detroit motor show (January 13-21, 2007). The four-door was created in collaboration with design studios in Japan and Europe.
Design language like the Concept X
As Mitsubishi Germany announced in Trebur on Friday, the new sports sedan has the same design language as the concept studies “Concept X” and “Concept Sportback”. The new vehicle will be launched in North America from spring next year. In Europe, the market launch will follow at the end of the year, as a Mitsubishi spokesman for the Autogazette says.
The top model in the series will be a brand new “Supercar” with the addition of “Evolution” to its name. Under the hood, a 2.0 liter petrol turbo engine provides propulsion. Since the Japanese want to appeal to sporty drivers with this vehicle, there will be no lack of performance. There will be engines with a power range of up to 300 hp.
As Mitsubishi announced, the platform for the new sports sedan is a joint production with DaimlerChrysler. The platform is currently being used by the new Outlander generation. In the future, it will also serve as the basis for other Mitsubishi models.
